Dogmeleon Cake and Candy Update

The basic concept for this game was dreamt of August, 2021. We liked the idea of a platformer where the character periodically shifts into the background so that the player cannot see where they are momentarily. 

In addition to the tropes of a standard platformer, this puzzle game challenges the player to choose ideal locations to allow the camouflage to trigger! To complete the level the player must camouflage in the correct location then use their character as the puzzle piece to complete the suggested pattern. 

New Compatibility
Demo client is now available for Windows and Mac!

New UI
– New *super cute* intro video!
– The main menu was overhauled and fun doggo-themed UI was added. A new settings screen will allow you to adjust the music volume.
– The levels UI was changed to be more appealing by adding sprites for the buttons, a level border, and a cute bone overlay.
– The camouflage countdown now warns the player when a camouflage is about to trigger by displaying a rainbow.

Need Help?
Levels which introduce new features now contain a help-screen to explain the new functionality. The chameleon button in Level can be clicked to display the answer to the puzzle (in case you get stuck).

New Feature: Timer Tokens

Grabbing these tokens adds more time until you camouflage. Be careful not to waste these tokens as you’ll need to grab them at the perfect moment to ensure you have enough time to run towards the goal!

Ten Cake-And-Candy-Themed Levels
Run, run, run! These new levels require you to quickly reach the end of the level before you trigger the camouflage. Complete levels by shifting into cupcakes, cotton candy clouds, gumballs, and suckers! Some levels contain artwork which is not needed to complete the level – enjoy the ambiance as you discover where to shift to win.

Rating System

Each level now contains an associated par – the minimal number of camouflages needed to complete the level. You will receive a rating from 1-5 (worst-best) as indicated by the golden paws in the Overworld Map. Master each level to receive the best rating possible!

New Music
Another Karly D classic, “No Time To Mourn”, has been added to the mix. Enjoy the chill vibes!

Bug Fixes
– The doggo will always align perfectly overtop of the background pixels when you stop moving. No more guessing whether you will complete the level properly while you sit in between pixels!

– Level boundaries are now a single object with a 2D box colliders instead of single pixels each with an associated 2D box collider. The doggo can no longer use its nose to hook itself on to vertical platforms.
